Affordable housing, cutting waiting lists, neighbourhood policing and fixing our broken roads. These are the things Gloucester Labour say their County Council candidates will focus on if they’re elected this May.
Chair of Gloucestershire Labour Party Kevin Stephens said,
“For too long people have been let down by Gloucestershire County Council failing to provide basic services.
“We are tired of seeing Gloucester treated as an afterthought. We are ambitious for Gloucester and the wider county and will prioritise the things that matter to people- affordable housing, cutting waiting lists, boosting neighbourhood policing and fixing the pothole plague in our city.
“It’s time for a change, we need strong Labour voices on our County Council, speaking up for our communities and delivering on essential public services.”
Labour’s Gloucestershire County Council candidates were joined at their campaign launch at Llanthony Priory by local activists and Gloucester’s Labour MP Alex McIntyre, who said,
“There is hardly a single service being run by Gloucestershire County Council that isn’t failing or in special measures.
“I have spoken to countless parents of SEN children who are being failed by the County Council. Their approach is leaving children without support and forces parents to constantly fight for their children’s basic needs to be met- this is not right.
“The Fire Service is in special measures, and adult social care is inadequate. Our roads are filled with potholes and the bus service continues to let people across the county down.
“It’s time that people in Gloucester and across the county were given the public services they deserve, that they feel safe on their streets, can access care and support and that they can get from A to B without fear of damaging their cars.
“Our fantastic candidates are champions in their communities. They will put the views of the people they represent first and hold the County Council to account.”
